Terrifier (2016)
October 2, 2025
There are two kinds of people in this world - the kind that get the appeal of Terrifier and the ones that don’t… I fall into the second category. That’s not to say that I dislike it, I just don’t get the insane hype. Honestly, my favorite memory of Terrifier is when I went to a convention and saw someone in full Art the Clown cosplay leaning on a railing smoking a cigarette and staring blankly into the distance. David Howard Thornton was there doing meet and greets in costume, so I like to think it was him, but I doubt it.
Terrifier follows the demonic Art the Clown as he terrorizes a town on Halloween. This film is packed with gore and terror, but not too much plot. If you are looking for a slash-fest to get you in the Halloween mood, this is a great one. It is set on Halloween so everyone is in costume and some of the businesses are decorated. Art is creepy and has some creative kills - this film really shines in its practical effects and makeup.
If you have a weak stomach, I absolutely recommend skipping this one. Extreme gore isn’t for everyone - it’s not my favorite thing, especially if it doesn’t feel purposeful. However, I do remember watching this for the first time and enjoying myself well enough. Watch at your own discretion.
