Heart Eyes (2025): Valentine's Day
February 1, 2026
One of the more unique movies, I think Heart Eyes is a breath of fresh air and is a great way to get ready for Valentine’s Day. Director Josh Ruben is one of my favorite Dropout cast members, so I was excited to see this film; and he delivered. I also have always enjoyed Olivia Holt’s performances, and this film was no different.
Heart Eyes is a horror comedy set on Valentine’s Day that follows a serial killer known as the Heart Eyes Killer who murders couples on Valentine’s Day. Our main character, Ally, works in advertising for a jewelry company and is trying to move past a breakup and a bad campaign. She begins working with Jay to brainstorm some good Valentine ’s-themed advertisements. As they work together, romance blossoms - which is a no-go for Heart Eyes. They are soon targeted by the killer and must work to save themselves.
This movie is full of Valentine’s Day allusions - decor, gift-giving, romance. It’s also a very fun slasher and mystery. If you are looking for something funny but a little dark this year, I would say look no further. This movie is unique and definitely captures the spirit of the holiday, despite the presence of a serial killer.
