“You Never Can Tell” Season 2, Episode 9

This episode is considered a Thanksgiving episode, but the actual occurrence of anything holiday-themed is slim to none. The only thing that makes this a Thanksgiving episode is Ally mentioning not wanting to spend Thanksgiving alone. That, and Ally kicking pillows because it’s her Thanksgiving tradition (a way to express frustration over not having the things she wants in life). In the episode, the firm is representing Ling in a sexual harassment lawsuit. Meanwhile, Renee sets Ally up on a blind date. Ally tries to find a warm body for the holiday but ends up with a boring semi-stalker. Ally tries unsuccessfully to ditch him throughout the episode. Another side plot follows John and Nelle’s pathetic attempt at a relationship. The episode centers around loneliness and relationships, which could easily have been done without the backdrop of Thanksgiving. I would say that this episode is skippable if you aren’t a fan of the show; you’re not getting much atmosphere from it. However, if you do like the show, it can’t hurt to throw it on if you’ve exhausted your more festive line-up.
